Notary and Jail Marriage Services

The County Recorder's office now requires an original, valid photo ID card for both the fiancée and incarcerated person.  Please call us at 888.400.7671 with any questions you may have regarding the marriage process, requirements, forms, fees, etc.

Steps to Marrying a Jail Inmate

  1. Obtain a "Jail Marriages" packet from the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder's/County Clerk's Office.  These forms must be signed and notarized.  We provide mobile notary public service at a low cost and will beat or match our competitor's price!  Please call 888.400.7671 for more information about marriage requirements, forms, or fees.
  2. After the papers have been signed and notarized, contact a wedding officiant to assist you with purchasing your marriage license which is an additional fee paid directly to the County Recorder.  If you do not know of a wedding officiant, we can provide the name of a qualified wedding officiant for you.  The notary who notarizes the inmate's signature on the Inability to Appear form cannot perform the wedding ceremony.
  3. Once approval has been granted, the actual marriage ceremony may be scheduled to be performed at the jail facility during regular visiting hours.  The bride and groom will be separated by glass and no touching or kissing is allowed.  No rings or any other items may be exchanged.

The whole process can be done quickly and easily.  Notary and wedding officiant fees vary depending on the location of the inmate and the complexity of the situation. Mobile Notary Public and marriage/wedding officiant services can also be provided during a court appearance.
